Art Van Elslander gift creates endowed chair of cardiovascular services

A donation by the A.A. Van Elslander Foundation has supported the creation of an endowment called the Shukri W. David Art Van Elslander Endowed Chair for Cardiovascular Services for Ascension Providence Hospital. Annual interest income will be used to advance cardiovascular services at Ascension Providence Hospital in Southfield and Novi. Under leadership of the endowed chair, funds will be used to invest in programs, facilities, equipment, research, staff recruitment and retention. Read more...

Patient's vision leads to gastric cancer program

The Jerome F. Williams Gastric Cancer Program was established at Ascension St. John Hospital's Van Elslander Cancer Center because of the vision of one patient, Jerry Williams, his wife Anne Marie and their physician Richard Berri, MD. Sharing a passion to provide a place of encouragement, strength and healing of body, mind and soul, they wanted to create this patient-centered program to help families facing cancer. Watch more...

Babies and moms gain enhanced care environment

Families cared for in the Birthing Center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Ascension St. John Hospital are benefiting from a $1 million gift from the Tersigni Family Foundation. One quarter of the gift is designated for technology and equipment for the newly renovated NICU. The remaining $750,000 is enhancing the Birthing Center; funds helped modernize the family waiting area and provide furnishings including recliners, rockers, folding chairs and tables. Read more...

Cancer center provides patients with one source for care

The Providence Cancer Center has centralized all outpatient services and administration under one roof for the convenience of patients during their diagnosis and treatment process. Gifts totaling more than $1 million from grateful patients, physicians and the Our Lady of Providence League helped support the renovation and expansion project to improve the patient experience. Novi Campus expands to better serve community

With donor support, Ascension Providence Hospital, Novi Campus, is growing both inside the hospital and across campus. 32 new private rooms were added, bringing the total bed count to 264. In addition, a new orthopedic gym, operating room and support facilities were completed. A campaign is in progress to raise $4.7 million for hospital expansion. Read more...

Soave mobile coach brings mammography to underserved women

Women in Detroit are more likely to die from breast cancer in part because they are often diagnosed and treated at a later stage in the illness, when life-saving procedures are too late. To help combat Detroit’s high breast cancer death rate, Anthony L. Soave donated $1 million to the health system for the Anthony L. Soave Family Mobile Mammography and Health Screening Center. Van Elslander Surgical Innovation Center opens

Thanks to longtime supporter Art Van Elslander, and the collaborative vision of our physicians, the Van Elslander Surgical Innovation Center (VESIC) at Ascension Providence Hospital, Novi Campus, is a reality. The VESIC is the capstone of Mr. Van Elslander’s multi-year leadership gift for the Neuroscience Center of Excellence. Read more....

The Emergency Center at Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Warren Campus, has been expanded thanks to generous philanthropic support from Leo and Bertranda Deutschmann. The couple gave a $1 million gift in appreciation for the care they received over the years at the hospital and from their physicians, especially Dr. Robert Moore. Read more...

With the support of more than 600 donors, the Mary Ann Elslander Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Special Care Nursery at Ascension St. John Hospital was renovated and expanded to provide premature and critically ill infants with expert care in an enhanced environment with the latest technology. Steinmetz endowment supports hospital

Edwin Steinmetz was extremely dedicated to his community. A banker in the St. Clair area, he volunteered much of his time to help establish a hospital for his community, ensuring the facility was exceptional in care and financially sound. For over 30 years, with his wife Shirley beside him, Edwin guided the vision for what became Ascension River District Hospital. Read more...

Children's Addiction Prevention Program helps families

Annie’s world turned upside down in 7th grade when her father was using drugs and alcohol, creating an unsettling, stressful home environment. Her grades dropped, she began showing signs of depression and started deliberately harming herself. Thankfully, her mother turned to the Children’s Addiction Prevention Program at the Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery for help. Read more...

Senior citizens will receive enhanced care specially dedicated to their needs, thanks to the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation, which has awarded two grants totaling $2 million to Ascension St. John Hospital. Thanks to the generosity of many donors, over $3.4 million has been raised for a new Simulation and Education Center at Ascension Providence Hospital, Southfield Campus. The center provides highly technical, realistic simulation in a multidisciplinary setting, allowing medical staff to practice cutting-edge procedures to help provide safe, patient-centered care. Cracchiolo Foundation supports Birthing Center

The Peter J. and Constance M. Cracchiolo Foundation made a leadership gift for the renovation of the Birthing Center at Ascension St. John Hospital as a way for the family to commemorate their late parents, who had a strong faith and commitment to family. The center will be named for the family. The family foundation also supported the creation of the Cracchiolo Inpatient Rehabilitation Center. Read more...
