Ascension Brighton Center for Recovery - Testimonial Letter
Dear Brighton Recovery Staff,
A little over four years ago, I walked through the doors of Brighton hospital. I was terrified, embarrassed, devastated and broken. Alcoholism nearly killed me...Prior to arriving at Brighton, I had never received treatment for my addiction. The 10 days I spent in the Brighton rehabilitation center were truly transformative. The staff helped me to begin healing from the lowest, most traumatic moments of my life.
After treatment, I stayed an additional month at the halfway house where I continued to grow and adjust to my new life in sobriety...I spent one year in sober living and during this time applied to a master's program at the University of Michigan. I graduated in April 2018 with an MA in Southeast Asian Studies...and was a member of the Collegiate Recovery Program and Students for Recovery. I was accepted into a Ph.D. program for Anthropology at the University of Cambridge in England. This is the top program in the world...I would have never imagined four years ago that this would be my life.
I recently celebrated four years of continuous sobriety and truly could not be where I am today without this gift. My time at Brighton changed my life, and I am so grateful to everyone who helps to make this program what it is. Thank you all so very much!
